The Artscape Theatre Centre hosts two internationally acclaimed shows in Cape Town – a Ballroom spectacular and a home-coming debut of a South African soprano. The programme for the next two weeks further includes children's theatre, contemporary dance, drama and hip hop. Full details follow.

Make Way for Noddy – Now through 7 July 2012 (± 1 hr)

THIS is the last chance to join Noddy at the Artscape Theatre Foyer with new stories to tell. He has a bad cold and needs some medicine to help him get better. The naughty goblins, Sly and Gobbo, convince Noddy that the medicine will have awful side effects. Dinah Doll chases Noddy all over Toyland to persuade him that medicine really can help. Tickets cost R50.

Jazzart's Azishe – 5 to 8 July 2012 (± 1,25 hrs)

JAZZART Dance Theatre hosts Azishe!, the company's annual dance festival at the Theatre. This exciting platform showcases the Jazzart Performance Company and the young talent in other local dance schools, companies and projects. Tickets cost R70.

Elza van den Heever Gala Concert – 8 July 2012 (± 2 hrs)

THE sensational South African born soprano, Elza van der Heever, makes her South African debut with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in a celebrity gala concert at the Opera House. She will make her Metropolitan debut later this year. The programme includes works by Richard Strauss and two famous Wagner arias. Tickets range from R120 to R200.

Burn the Floor – the Temperature Rises Tour – 11 to 29 July 2012 (± 2 hrs)

THE imminent Cape Town debut of this Broadway smash hit draws closer. Don't miss the international phenomenon of Burn the Floor at the Opera House. This show is about the passion, the drama and the sizzling excitement of 20 gorgeous champion dancers filling the stage with electric performances of Ballroom's best. Burn The Floor – Ballroom Reinvented. Tickets range from R125 to R315.

Just Business – 11 to 28 July 2012 (± 1,25 hrs)

FRESH from the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, this Mike van Graan play at the Arena is a scathing satire on unscrupulous enrichment and greed in the New South Africa. First staged as Hostile Takeover by the Market Theatre, Just Business has been reworked and updated and promises to be more provocative, uncompromising and funny than when Hostile Takeover was the runner-up in the PANSA Festival of Reading of New Writing competition in 2005. Tickets range from R65 to R85.

This Little Light of Mine – 13 & 14 July 2012 (± 2 hrs)

BY using hip hop dance and music, this presentation at the Theatre explores a call to heed people's passion to rekindle a sense of life as an adventure. Tickets cost R50.
