UCT Drama will present a new production of Reza de Wet's MIRAKEL from the TRITS trilogy, which won her the Hertzog prize. The production will be performed from 13 to 16 May 2013 in the Arena Theatre on UCT's Hiddingh campus. This groundbreaking production is directed by one of Cape town's most prolific directors, Sandra Temmingh.

MIRAKEL takes place in 1936, shortly after the Great Depression, a time in which traveling actors were still a common occurrence in South Africa. The story begins with Danté du Pré and his dirt-poor company of actors visiting a small town with their production of Everyman. This town, however, holds a surprise for the company in the form of a bitter revengeful widow.

Despite Mirakel being set in the early 20th century, the issues and themes discussed are very relevant to our contemporary society and more specifically the South African theatre industry. Tickets are available from Webtickets. Please feel free to contact the Little Theatre office for block booking details at 021 480 7129.
